The decision to sell your home is generally not an easy one. There are emotions involved and often lengthy to-do lists to get your house ready for market.

Let’s take a look at some of the things you can expect when you decide to put your home up for sale.

Determining the Sale Price

This first step can often feel challenging for homeowners. The sale price must reflect the current market conditions. Not what happened a year ago or even 6 months ago! I always try and give the most up to date real estate information to my Sellers so that together we can come up with the best listing price strategy.

We do this by taking into consideration the size of the home, location, and current condition. Next, we must do a comparative market analysis to see how your home stacks up against similar homes that have sold in your area. Once we’re done with this two-step process we will have a good idea of a starting price.

Getting Your Home Market-Ready

Having a Realtor® assess your home and give you instructions on how you can make it more presentable can feel upsetting. After all, your home is like a beloved family member! I work personally with my Sellers in preparing their home for sale. This includes tips and tricks to declutter, minor repairs and fixes to maximize your return and staging your home to maximize its attributes. I always tell my Sellers - no one actually LIVES in their home like it appears when they are selling…however, it’s important to completely prepare your home for sale, prior to it hitting the market so that the Buyers are excited and prepared to bring an offer.

It’s important to keep in mind that your Realtor® knows how to sell. We know what buyers are looking for in a home and can offer great advice on how to show yours off. Try not to take anything too personal. At the end of the day, this is a financial transaction and your Realtor® is trying to help you sell your home fast and for the absolute best price possible. I always encourage open and honest communication with my clients. When we list your home, we are a team together working towards a common goal.
